Dear Res/Lori,
Are you going Rogue? There are strong indications that you are running in 2012 for....but wait. Ruppert Murdoch is out there. There are supposed to be four more individuals, that with Ruppert, control most of the Mainstream Media (of the world). Or so I have heard. Do you know who they are? Just curious. Really. Always a fan, Buckley

yes they are so very.. Fair and balanced :)
seriously though, this, in my mind is the single most important issue out there. Corporate control over the media. This is, in large part, the reason why many people no longer vote. They are unable to see any clear differences between canidates because everything is so blurred. Democracy DOES NOT WORK without informed voters and clear information on issues of actual importance. We are conditioned, through consumption of shocking, attention grabbing/ fight or flight envoking images and words on the TV/newspapers/magazines/internet, to respond positively to the wrong issues, things that are unimportant. Intelligent people realize that they are unimportant, and so people stop caring. They see it as theatre... This is destroying America. Think about it. We impeached clinton because he cheated on his wife, but Bush takes us to war without proof killing thousands of US/Iraqi lives and he serves 8 years in office. scary scary stuff.

Resident,

That was a great hypocritical yet, valiant demonstration of the power of free speech. allow me to elaborate.

Americans have become fat and complacent, True. We can now afford to complain about things we don't want, yet most of the time, we choose not to. That would, after all, require some kind of effort, like voting.

But, isn't it also true that by the very definition of what you are doing, you become part of the problem that you so badly want to eradicate.

But wait, you'd rather "they" cover something more important than banalities? Do you wish you had a bigger microphone so you could tell them?.. I'm sorry, that would mean becoming them, wouldn't it? Wish you had a bigger audience...

I admire your enthusiam, depth of research and your interviewing style: It's refreshing.

But, before you lay the carpet of criticism at the steps of Mass Media, you might want to look back. Your footprint is awfully similar...

I look forward to your next piece.
Until then, thanks for the hypocritical rant.

I thought the New Yorker cover was pretty good satire.

Hmmm... nowhere I see/hear a mention that McCain invented the Blackberry. That is a must not miss factoid! - it is the one thing that will swing the geek voter towards the Republican ticket.

I just have one sentence to sum up mass media sucks . . . . . . Confucius say: Man who lay woman in strawberry patch, get ass in jam. And I approve this message.

Sarcasm ?......I couldn't find it.

I did notice that YOU get closer and closer to the American Flag draped between those fluted columns.......does this mean you're going to get into the race after all,......as that last minute, eleventh hour, last chance for salvation, write in?

This is a fun political video if I do say so myself. No one would deny this is a pivotal election year in the United States. Since each American has to choose which candidate gets his or her vote, you'd think our media would focus on presenting helpful information to inform citizens' voting preferences for the betterment of our country. You know, like, FOCUS ON THE ISSUES?! But no, all of our media outlets continue to focus on the sensational, the scandalous, and the sexy parts of the candidates' offerings (the latter of which, a stretch). Instead of talking about Lipstick on a Pig, TV news might consider outlining each candidate's step-by-step plan for healthcare reform. Or how the candidates intend on rescuing us from dependency on oil. But no, it's much more interesting to talk about what designer jacket Sarah Palin was wearing during her fluff speech, right? And that's really going to get our country out of this financial crisis and cultural cesspool, right? Riiiiiight. So, to the American mass media that remains bent on primarily covering the superficial and distracting facets of the election, I salute you, with this incredibly sarcastic political video.
